EFL STUDENTS' AWARENESS OF CULTURAL CONNOTATIONS OF WORDS

Abstract


This study testifies that EFL students’ enhanced awareness of cultural connotations of words could improve their judgement of the appropriate usage of words in certain context. Frequency of the cultural connotations of words has been proved to greatly influence their performance. Based on the study, some pedagogical suggestions have been provided.
